SAN BERNARDINO
– Senior Miguel Abascal scored on an unassisted goal in the 68th minute of play as Cal Poly Pomona lost 4-1 to host Cal State San Bernardino on Friday in California Collegiate Athletic Association men’s soccer.

The Broncos, now 9-8-1 overall and 7-7-1 in league, play host to the Coyotes on Sunday in the regular season finale. CSUSB is 15-3-1, 11-3-1.

Junior forward Albert Cabrera scored two goals and Billy Pellow and Demetri Burgos added the other for the Coyotes.

The Coyotes took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute of the first half as Cabrera accepted a through ball from junior forward Obi Agwu and fired a hard shot off his right foot inside the near post, winding up in the far corner of the net.

Pellow scored his third goal of the season on a header from a cross by senior Danny Rodriguez in the 56th minute. A minute later, Burgos beat several defenders for his second goal of the season after being fed the ball by junior Jose Godinez for a 3-0 lead.

Cal Poly Pomona answered on Abascal's unassisted goal inside the far post, beating CSUSB goalkeeper Arath DeLaRocha.

Two minutes later it was Cabrera, collecting a pass from Godinez, making a quick turn and then blasting a left-footed shot into the near corner of the net past Broncos GK Brad Jones for a 4-1 advantage.

CSUSB outshot the Broncos 15-9.
