SAN BERNARDINO
-- Sophomore Kristina Gomez' scored the game’s only goal as Cal State San Bernardino defeated Cal Poly Pomona 1-0 in a CCAA women's soccer match at Coyote Premier Field on Friday afternoon.

The same two teams play again Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Kellogg Field.

CPP is 9-10 overall and 5-10 in the CCAA, while CSUSB is 10-7-2 and 9-4-2.

The Coyotes earned the goal just 9:46 into the match when junior Unity Beddingfield sprinted with the ball along the near sideline, then struck a cross that was collected by Melissa Lynn Castillo, who passed back across the front of the box to the on-rushing Gomez, who one-timed the ball inside the near post.

CSUSB's defense limited Cal Poly Pomona to just seven shots and only three that required a save by senior goalkeeper Laura Lyons.

Two of the Broncos’ SOG were by Andrea Salerno and the third by Carolyn Rubendall.
