Junior guard earns second region honor in as many days
BROOKINGS, S.D. -- Junior guard Reyana Colson was named to the Daktronics West Region first-team women's basketball squad for the second straight year, it was announced Wednesday.

Colson, a Compton native, will now be listed on the Daktronics All-American national ballot. The All-American team will be announced later this month.

The 5-foot-6 guard has been the leading player for the NCAA Tournament-bound Broncos, who play Alaska Anchorage on Friday in the opening round of the NCAA West Region Tournament. She leads the team in scoring (16.8 ppg) and also averages 6.9 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 2.6 assists a game.

In this week's CCAA rankings, she is 3rd in scoring, 5th in minutes played, 5th in defensive rebounds, 7th in steals, 8th FT percentage, 10th assists, 11th rebounds and 12th FG percentage.

Colson ranks 14th on the all-time CPP scoring chart with 1,240 points and is fifth in career made free throws (361) and fifth in career free throw attempts (537). 

This season she earned a place on the CPP season top-10 list in made free throws (5th -- 155) and seventh in free throw attempts (208).

She is a three-time All-CCAA guard and earned Honorable Mention All-American in last year's WBCA balloting.

Off the court, she is a two-time CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 8 first team honoree. 

The selections are made by the sports information directors at the region’s schools that sponsor women’s basketball. The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition.
