Broncos men's basketball coach
Greg Kamansky has been named the NCAA Division II Coach of the Year from both the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the Division II Bulletin, both organizations announced this week.
Kamasky, who led the Broncos to their first NCAA title with Saturday's 65-53 victory over second-ranked Indiana of Pa., is the first coach to have an unranked team win the NCAA title since 1979 when North Alabama defeated Wisconsin-Green Bay.
The Broncos established 20 season records in 2009-10 that included most wins (28), best winning percentage (28-6 -- 82.4 percent), longest winning streak (15) and most conference wins (18).
Kamansky will be honored with the UPS NABC Divsion II Coach of the Year award, presented on April 4, at the AT&T NABC Guardians of the Game Awards Show at the Murat Centre in Indianapolis during this weekend's Final Four.
The show will be taped by CBS College Sports.
