LOS
ANGELES -- All-American Jonathan Williams just missed on establishing a school record in the 200 meters when he ran 21.01 at the Cal State L.A. Last Chance Meet on Saturday.

Williams, a senior from Temecula, finished second in the event and solidified his positioning for a berth in the NCAA Division II Championships to be held in Charlotte, N.C. on May 28-30.

Williams, who earned All-American honors in the 100 at last year's NCAA meet, missed out by .01 seconds on the record held by DeVon Edwards in 1994.

He also ran the 100 meters in a season-best 10.57.

The 4 x 400 relay team of Corey Arnold, Matthew Boudreau, Jake Deavers and Carter Griffin ran a season-best 3:13.56.

Junior Jose Marquez won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in  9:35.16 -- a time that did not improve on his season best.

Senior Andrew Miller placed second in the pole vault and met the NCAA provisional standard at 15-11 3/4.

Winning a title for the women's team was junior Ileana Tejada, who won the hammer throw at 165-7.

It is expected that the NCAA will release its list of contestants for the NCAA Championships on Tuesday.
