Travis Taijeron were selected to the 2010 California Collegiate Athletic Association baseball honors squad, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Torres was named to the first team and is the first Bronco in four years to earn first-team status. Anthony Esquer was the last player to make the first team in 2006.
Torres earned status as a utility player for CPP, which completed the season 26-27 overall and 18-22 in league play. The Valencia native hit .313 with 12 home runs and a team-leading 54 RBI -- the most for a Bronco in nine years. He split duty with 26 starts at first base and 24 starts behind the plate.
Torres was a second-team selection a year ago and is the only sophomore to make the first team.
Taijeron completed his first season with a school-record 16 home runs that led the CCAA. He hit .345 with 48 RBI and totaled a team-high 31 extra-base hits.
Regular-season champion UC San Diego placed a conference-high six players on the first team. The Tritons had a total of 10 players earn All-CCAA honors and head coach Dan O’Brien was tabbed the conference’s Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year.
UC San Diego senior first baseman Brandon Gregorich, was named Most Valuable Player, while his teammate, senior right-hander Matt Rossman, was selected Most Valuable Pitcher of the Year. Cal State East Bay outfielder Charlie Sharrer was tabbed Freshman of the Year and Cal State Dominguez Hills’ junior third baseman Abel Medina earned Newcomer of the Year accolades.
Cal State Dominguez Hills totaled eight players earn all-conference honors, including four first-team selections.
