WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Mitchel Anderson of the eighth-ranked Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association's (CCAA) Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 26 through Jan. 1, conference officials announced on Monday. 

Anderson, a junior guard from Temecula, Calif., averaged 18.5 points, eight rebounds and two assists in helping the Broncos to a pair of road victories over Cal State San Bernardino and UC San Diego. The wins allowed CPP to take sole possession of first place in the CCAA standings.

Anderson posted his first career double-double after scoring 23 points and collecting 10 rebounds in 34 minutes during an 85-76 overtime victory over the Coyotes of CSUSB on Thursday. He followed that effort with 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting while also contributing six rebounds and two assists in a 66-52 win at UCSD Friday.

This marks the first time in the 2011-12 season that a Bronco was awarded the CCAA weekly honor. It also is the first career conference Player of the Week selection for Anderson.

The Broncos return to action on Thursday when they host Cal State East Bay at 7:30 p.m. CPP owns marks of 8-0 overall and 5-0 through CCAA play.
