POMONA, Calif.- With the 1,182nd overall pick in the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft, the Los Angeles Dodgers selected Broncos' starting pitcher
Chris Powell. Powell was the 39th round selection by the Dodgers.

He is one of five Broncos to be selected in the 2015 Draft as he is joined by
Cody Ponce,
Christian Kelley,
Kyle Garlick, and
Richie McWilliams. Five members of the CPP team getting selected marks the highest total since 1985, and increases the number drafted under head coach
Randy Betten to 10 in his five seasons. Â

Powell, through most of the season was the Broncos' first pitcher, meaning he led off the series on the bump for CPP. He is the longest active member of the Green and Gold squad, having arrived in 2010 as a freshman.

The Upland native finished the season with a 2.33 earned run average and a 8-2 record. He led the Broncos with a total of 92.2 innings pitched and managed to rack up 79 strikeouts during that time.

Through his time as a Bronco, Powell earned a career ERA of 3.02 which amassing an 11-2 record, complete with 104 strikeouts in 131.1 innings pitched.

The senior's 2015 win and strikeout tallies landed him on the top five leaderboard for the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

During the season, the Broncos went on the post a program high 47 wins, and won the CCAA regular season title, the CCAA Tournament title, the West Region Tournament title, and a trip to Cary N.C. where they finished third in the country.

If he signs, Powell would likely play for one of the following Los Angeles Dodgers minor league affiliates: AZL Dodgers (Rookie), Ogen Raptors (Rookie), Great Lakes Loons (Low-A), or the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (High-A).
