Biography


As a Junior in 2011: Had a breakthrough junior season, qualifying for the NCAA Division II National Championships in the 400-meter hurdles and then becoming an All-American for that event... Finished seventh nationally with a finals time of 54.81... Season best mark came on May 1 at UC Irvine when he crossed the line in 52.58... Also a member of the Broncos' 4x400 relay team that captured first at the Cal/Nevada Invitational, topping a variety of Division I competitors that included second-place UC Irvine and third-place Sacramento State... CPP's time recorded that day, 3:12.65, stands as the sixth-fastest in program history for that event... Received All-Region selection from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)... At the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships in Turlock, he took first in both the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles to earn Athlete of the Meet selection... Also contributed to the Broncos' sweep of the 4x100 and 4x400 relays at the conference championships.

As a Sophomore in 2010: Put together a fine sophomore campaign in 2010, helping the Broncos capture a conference relay title and finishing second in two hurdles events at the CCAA Championships hosted by UC San Diego in early May... The 4x400 relay group finished with a time of 3:13.83 to take first... He posted respective times of 14.81 and 53.67 in the 110 highs and 400 intermediates to place second in both races... His 22.09 mark in the 200 on April 24 at Cal State L.A. ended up as the third-best time for CPP during the season.

As a Freshman in 2009: Enjoyed a solid freshman season… Earned All-CCAA status by placing third in the 110 hurdles (season-best 14.86)… Ran the 100 meters in 11.35 at CCAA… Ran 200 in 22.96.

High School: A 2008 graduate of Lakeside High School... A four-sport letter winner (track and field, football, wresting and cross country)… Owns personal-bests in the 110 hurdles (14.2) and 300 intermediate hurdles (40.0) set as a senior… Reached CIF preliminaries in each event as a senior… Crowned league champion in both hurdle events as a senior… Also ran on CIF-qualifying 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays teams his senior season.

Personal: Son of Kelly and Jackie Deavers… Has an older sister named Kelsey... Civil Engineering major… Enjoys biking, playing video games and sleeping in his free time... Favorite pro athlete is Ryan Villopoto.
