POMONA, Calif. - If Etiwanda High School is planning a five-year reunion for the Class of 2009, Kellogg Gym might be a good location.
Two 2009 Eagles' graduates will now be calling Kellogg Gym home as
Jordan Finn is set to join the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball program for the 2013-14 school year, head coach
Greg Kamansky announced Friday.
"Jordan is a veteran guard who knows how to play the game," Kamansky said. "We expect him to bring a great competitive spirit to our backcourt."
Finn - who will be entering as a junior - will join fellow Etiwanda High product
DeRonn Scott as the Broncos aim to build on the success of 2012-13, a year that featured CPP sweeping the conference's regular season and tournament titles.
A 6-foot-4 guard from Rancho Cucamonga, Finn spent his freshman and sophomore seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12 at Nevada of the Division I Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
During the 2011-12 campaign, he helped the Wolf Pack squad to a 28-7 record and the team went on to capture the WAC title. That season, Finn shared the Pack's Sixth Man Award with five teammates. On Jan. 21, 2012, he scored a career-high eight points in Nevada's 74-61 win over Fresno State. As a sophomore, he played in 32 games while averaging 1.4 points in 5.8 minutes per contest.
In his first season at Nevada, Finn appeared in 27 games and averaged 1.9 points in 10.8 minutes per contest. He scored a season-high seven points at Houston on Dec. 6, 2010.
While at Etiwanda, Finn earned All-Baseline League First Team and All-State Third Team recognition as a senior. In that final season, he averaged 12 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Through his high school career, he helped Etiwanda to 98 wins, including two CIF semifinals and one CIF finals appearances.
He was selected to play in the 2009 National High School Academic All-American game and he was nominated for the McDonald's High School All-America team as well. During high school, Finn received the Black History Month Student Achievement Award in recognition of academic excellence and contributions to the community.
In other recruiting news for CPP, Kamansky announced the
signing of Quentin Taylor in November, the
signing of Jeremy Dennis in early May and the
transfer of Chad Haysbert in the middle of June.
Among the Broncos' 10 intercollegiate teams, Finn marks the fourth Etiwanda High School graduate in the current group of CPP student-athletes. In addition Finn and Scott,
Jada Blackwell of women's basketball and
Mindy Castro of women's soccer are also Eagles' alums.
